Hamilton County Superintendent Justin Robertson says building a new elementary school on the Red Bank high school site is not feasible.

The idea was first presented by school board member Ben Connor last month.

Dr. Robertson says the site isn't viable because a geothermal system is under the soccer field and two practice fields.

Ben Connor, who serves Hamilton County's 6th district, says he tried to look into other options.

"We did our diligence in asking whether or not we could move those lines somewhere else," says Ben Connor, District 6 Board Member. "And the simple answer is there's just not a spot for them and especially not any kind of non cost prohibitive."

The next school facility meeting is on January 18 and board members are supposed to vote on a plan.
