Days after Bradley County Mayor Gary Davis said it was a good time to consider merging Cleveland City Schools and Bradley Schools, he's emphasizing it's unlikely to happen anytime soon.
Davis spoke to our partners at Mix 104.1, saying he has heard a lot of pros and cons, which is why the idea needs to be thoroughly researched.
"I think it is time that we look at making a possible changes and improvements. We have two wonderful school systems here, but I think on behalf of our kids our students we could do things even better." he told Mix 104.1.
Davis had previously indicated the timing might be right, with Cleveland City Schools Director Russell Dyer leaving for another job.

Davis said it would benefit all Bradley County taxpayers.
Local 3 News asked both school systems for a comment on the matter.
So far, only Cleveland City Schools has responded with "no comment”.
