S Howell Ave duplex fire

Chattanooga firefighters responded to a fire at a duplex in the Brainerd area on Monday afternoon.

The fire was reported shortly before 3:00pm from the 200 block of S. Howell Avenue off Brainerd Road.

Chattanooga Fire Department spokesperson Lindsey Rogers confirms the fire and says it took crews about 20 minutes to get it under control.

Rogers says all of the residents, three adults and one child, safely made it out of the home.

Rogers says firefighters also saved three cats.

No injuries were reported.

The cause is unknown and under investigation.

The family will be getting help from the American Red Cross, due to the heavy damage done to the home.
